Dir. Djurica Nikolic – Intercultural multiplier in the health and social areas and designer of interreligious encounters and events. My motto: “Tradition is not the worship of the ashes, but the preservation of the fire.” (Rabindranath Tagore) I am Rome and director of the Im.Ausland association. My duty is to build the structure so that an institution is created. It is important to me that we all represent and achieve a common goal under a “common roof”. My task is also to become a “voice of immigrants” nationally and internationally (in the EU and around the world) with my club and my team.
My name is Elisabeth Ettmann, my profession is a social worker, I have many years of experience in intercultural, social space-oriented work. I have been associated with the International Association since 2004. My vision of the association’s work is shaped by Paulo Freire’s political stance: “Because dialogue is an encounter between people who name the world, it must not create a situation in which some people name the world at the expense of others.”
I am Lydia Letsch, 20 years old, from Germany and studying “International Development” and “Cultural and Social Anthropology” at the University of Vienna. During my studies, I deal with topics such as migration, integration and development processes and would also like to put my knowledge into practice. I spent a year doing voluntary service in Bosnia and got to know the language and way of life of the people there and am very interested in how these people are integrated into Austrian society. I take part in the “Intercultural Learning Group”, will work on various projects and also take on administrative tasks for the association.
I am Slavica Janeva, a political scientist and I come from Macedonia. I completed my political science studies in Skopje, Macedonia. I have been living in Vienna for a year and a half and am currently doing a master’s degree at the University of Vienna, Institute for Political Science.
I am active in several civil society institutes and organizations in Austria and Macedonia. In the Im.Ausland association, I not only embody competence and expertise, but also feel direct contact with the soul of the organization. Last but not least, the association is also a real voice for immigrants.
My name is Zorica Antonijevic, I am Romani and have lived in Vienna for 23 years. I am interested in working in the club and especially the health project. I have been caring for my parents for many years, so I know how important it is to have good information. It is important to me that I can help other people. Many people come to me to ask for advice. I want to be able to help others even better than before. I like to learn and develop new things.
Erich Novoszel – freelance artist, painting-photography-room installations with studies of painting in Vienna, Zagreb and Tokyo. As a native of Burgenland-Croat and therefore grew up in a culturally mixed social environment, I am sensitive to the migrant discourse in Austria, whereby the “mainstream position” calls for integration but means assimilation. The Im.Ausland association gives me the opportunity to make my contribution to successful coexistence in an artistic project with Roma students and other minorities.
